Non-Fiction

Non-fiction fees are based on a per page system. The three levels below reflect the complexity of the conversion process. There is a minimum charge of $125.00 regardless of the number of pages or the complexity.

Level One

Basic narrative (memoirs) without footnotes, lists, sidebars, pull quotes, tables. Includes images.

Level Two

Standard non-fiction titles (business books, self-help) with a mix of footnotes, lists, unique paragraph formatting, images, tables, sidebars, pull quotes, and other complexities spread throughout.

Level Three

Complex titles (Cookbooks, textbooks, manuals) with formatting on every page, two-column formatting and other complexities.

Fiction

  1. Your manuscript will be reformatted including paragraph indents and alignments; lists, poetry, images and tables in a way that performs best for ebooks. An interactive Table of Contents will also be created as will a structural table of contents (NCX) used for navigation, such as the ePub TOC.
  2. Your cover image will be embedded and other images/graphical elements optimized.
  3. Footnotes/endnotes formatted as ebook endnotes and linked. Note, tables and charts will be inserted as images.
  4. You will receive an ePub file that passes the ePub validation checks, and is optimized for display in the most popular eBook devices and/or a valid Kindle book that displays properly on all Kindle devices and apps.

Up to 10 images including proofing, resizing and optimization of illustrations/images. Note, books with 11-30 images will be charged an additional $50 fee.

Exception: Poetry makes the conversion process more complex and a higher rate may be charged than specified above.

Children’s eBooks

Children love ereaders, particularly the iPad. If you’re a children’s writer, you can publish to the standard ePub and Kindle format; or fixed-layout ePub for iBooks or an eBook App. Children’s ebooks, take a considerable amount of time and are charged at a different rate. It also depends on how much work you decide to do yourself.

Proof Reading $8

+GST per 1,000 words
No matter how many times you’ve read your book, you’ll miss something. Either spelling, or punctuation, or glaring grammatical errors because you’re too close. It is an optional extra and we don’t do it unless asked.

Copy Editing $10

+GST per 1,000 words
We look at paragraphing, headings, capitalisation, breaking down long paragraphs and sentences, repetition, flow and the use of punctuation. Our client’s accept or reject our suggestions using Microsoft Word’s track change.
